Registered Nurse Uses Network to Fight Malaria & Poverty

Registered Nurse, Ann Murray, is using her network to help end malaria and poverty. As a nurse union leader, she has taken the message to Ontario Nurses Unions. As a member of the Catholic Women’s League, she is taking the message to end malaria and poverty to other league members. Ann is a model of caring and compassion in action. She is a strong advocate who is making a positive difference in the lives of women and children in Uganda. Thank you so much Ann. You are a champion of children.

Charlotte Bonella, RN in Alberta and Beverly Simms, RN in Newfoundland have raised nearly $15,000 for nets and malarial medicines in Kawempe. We are extremely grateful for your help. Buy-a-Net was founded by a nurse, is endorsed by the Cdn Nurses Association and the Cdn Fed of Nurses Unions, and is supported by nurses. Together we work with our Ugandan nursing colleagues to help end the scourge of malaria.

Coins Add Up!

Dale Green dropped by the office leaving behind a jar of coins. He said, “I know people who have died from malaria.” Katie, in the office, was deeply moved. He went on to say he heard about Buy-a-Net and liked the organization. Thank you Mr. Green. In honour of those you knew who died from malaria, others will live. It’s acts of kindness like yours that inspire us.

Pathfinders Fight Malaria

The First St. Anthony Pathfinders from St. Anthony, NL, have joined the fight against malaria through the “Beading Up Malaria” campaign.  These girls and women raised over $650 with the sale of Ugandan made beaded jewelery, directly tackling poverty and malaria.

Thank you for the awesome job ladies!  You have helped Ugandan women dig themselves out of poverty.

Rotary Saves Women & Children Again

Once again, Rotary has helped to make our world a better place. Led by Rotarians, Dr. Michael Woolnough and James Westmacott, the Richmond Sunset Rotary Club 51225, District 5040, enjoyed “Pub Night” to raise funds for bed nets and medicines for women and their children in Uganda. District Governor Hans Doge supported the initiative with a matching grant! In all, $3000.00 was donated to Buy-a-Net! The partnership with Rotary is invaluable! Thank you Richmond Sunset RC!

Shirley R. Hosts Annual Garage Sale to Save Lives

The 4th Annual Garage Sale, hosted by Shirley R. in Deseronto, ON, filled with plants from Shirley’s garden and contributions from neighbors and friends, raised $400.00 for nets and medicines. To date, Shirley and her caring team have raised over $3,000 for moms and children in Uganda. Thank you for your invaluable partnership, Shirley!
