Charlotte Bonella, RN in Alberta and Beverly Simms, RN in Newfoundland have raised nearly $15,000 for nets and malarial medicines in Kawempe. We are extremely grateful for your help. Buy-a-Net was founded by a nurse, is endorsed by the Cdn Nurses Association and the Cdn Fed of Nurses Unions, and is supported by nurses. Together we work with our Ugandan nursing colleagues to help end the scourge of malaria.

Buy-a-Net at United Nurses of Alberta (UNA) 34th AGM, Edmonton, AB

Buy-a-Net is very pleased to participate in UNA’s 34th Annual General Meeting, October 25th-27th, at the Northlands Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. The United Nurses of Alberta represents more than 25,000 RNs, RPNs and allied health professionals. Led by Regional Ambassador, Charlotte Bonella, RN, Buy-a-Net will share its poverty reduction and disease prevention program in Uganda with the more than 800 delegates from across Alberta. UNA President Heather Smith encouraged nurses to be agents of change. Endorsed by the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions, and led by a Canadian nurse, Buy-a-Net welcomed Ms. Smith’s comments.

Buy-a-Net in Winnipeg, MB., for Cdn Fed of Nurses Unions Convention

Winnipeg, MB: “We are extremely proud of the endorsement of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions,” said Gail Fones, Chairperson, Board of Directors. “The CFNU has been a tremendous advocate and supporter of Buy-a-Net.” Margot Christie, Board Director, added, “We are delighted to be at the 30th Anniversary Convention, to highlight CFNU’s support and the positive difference it has made in the lives of so many mothers and their children in Uganda. There is so much more work to be done, and we must remain vigilent and consistent in our efforts. We are here to let them know that.”

Ms. Fones, Ms. Christie, and many Buy-a-Net volunteers, are in Winnipeg this week to promote the anti-poverty and disease prevention program of Buy-a-Net amongst the over 800 nurse delegates from across Canada.
