In the picturesque community of Milford, Ontario, Anglican Church Women (ACW) in the Region heard the story of malaria and how simple it was to save lives with bed nets and medicines. Thank you for your kind donation…we couldn’t do this lifesaving work without you!

J.J. O’Neill Catholic Elementary School in Napanee Ontario raised $785. 87 !
For the last few weeks of School Students of J.J. O’Neill
sold Ice Cream Sandwiches, raising enough funds to net 2 Villages.

Rotary Club Kololo & Rotary Club Cataraqui Partner with Buy-A-Net to Save Lives

Rotary Club Kololo 9200, Uganda, Rotary Club Cataraqui 7040, Kingston, ON., partner with Buy-A-Net to save lives from malaria. Following BAN’s successful model of community engagement and education, the distribution of over 10,000 bed nets has begun.

Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, donated $750.00, Buying Nets and Saving the Lives of Many!
As part of their efforts to support international programs, Children’s Aid Toronto found Buy-A-Net Malaria Prevention Group a great and simple cause!
with this donation the lives of 500 people or 125 familes were saved,
thank you C.A.S. Toronto!

Buy-A-Net Chairman, James Brown receives Distinguished Citizen Award

Buy-A-Net Chairman, James Brown was honoured as a First Capital Distinguished Citizen during Canada Day’s civic ceremony in Kingston, Ontario.

Presented by Kingston Mayor Harvey Rosen, The Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes outstanding citizens for achievements over a lifetime and having a positive impact on the community.

“James Brown, of Brown’s Fine Foods, has championed causes including the Boys and Girls Club, H’Art Studio and the St. Lawrence College Foundation, First Nations literacy and education with the XO One Laptop Per Child in northern fly in communities as well as Museum of Health Care at Kingston.”

Mr. Brown devotes his time to help young people, and his passion has extended oversea to Africa. “One can only imagine what these kids could accomplish if given half a chance.” James Brown.

Buy-A-Net is proud to have Kingston’s Distinguished Citizen as an essential volunteer. Congratulations James!

Debra Lefebvre, received the Honourable Achievement Award

Debra Lefebvre, Buy-A-Net Executive Director & Founder received the Honourable Achievement Award, for her work with Buy-A-Net.

Debra for five years has lead this group to become the largest civilian-led malaria prevention initiative in Uganda and saves lives by providing insecticide-treated bed nets and malaria prevention education free-of-charge one village at a time. Her efforts have helped protect more than 100,000 lives from malaria.

Kennedy’s Project

Kennedy is a passionate student who “gets turned onto” social issues.
One particular day she talked to us about Malaria. She had seen a documentary on television and she was determined that we should do something to help the children. She wanted to help children in Africa because we have students in our school from Africa.

Thus our Malaria Prevention Project, more fondly “Kennedy’s Project” was born.

Kennedy first researched the best organization to “hook up with.”
She chose Buy A Net “because you could net children for only $6.00. That was really affordable.”

With the support of the Special Education teacher, it was decided that the group would hold a raffle in hopes of raising enough money to net 10 families.

As a group they developed an assembly package using the Buy A Net video, made posters and intercom announcements.

In just over a week they were ready to start the sale. The group had 11 prizes ranging from back – packs, dolls, summer fun baskets, mini football and soccer ball. Sales took place each day during first nutrition break. Tickets cost 10¢ each or 3 for 25¢.
In just over a week the group had their wish. Kennedy’s Project, raised $445.29 – enough to net a village and a few extra children.
Thank-you Kennedy & Group, you made a difference in the lives of an entire a village in Kawempe, Kampala, Uganda.

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School, Ottawa Ontario – choose to raise funds for malaria prevention. They held a pancake breakfast, a penny carnival, sold raffle tickets, and had weekly draws.

The 282 Students @ Our Lady of Fatima Raised $2,000 for Buy-A-Net!

They are giving 300 nets to the Ugandan district of Kawempe and saving over 1,300 lives from malaria.
