World Malaria Events

World Malaria Day marks the global effort to stop the loss of 750,000 entirely preventable deaths from malaria each year, 85% of who are young children in Africa. Progress has already been made in this battle: the number of young children dying from malaria has now reduced from one every 30 seconds to one every 45 seconds. It is still an unacceptable statistic; more needs to be done.
Less than $10 will buy, transport and deliver a bed net and protect a mother and her children from malaria.
Events are being planned around the world to recognize World Malaria Day, as a day to celebrate the progress and impact we have made.
Along with our viral campaign to end deaths from malaria, Starbucks, Oxford Learning Centre and Chapters have joined the fight. Support has come through organizations such as B’Nai Brith, Empire Life and KPMG. Schools and universities are marking this day with fundraising events for bed nets and medicines, yard sales, bake sales and garage sales, are being planned, as well. Local Rotary Clubs are joining in, as are Interact Clubs.
